Advancing Energy Efficiency with Top Industrial Efficiency for Large Motor-driven Systems

Creating a sustainable future requires significantly improving the energy efficiency of the millions of motors and drives that power everyday life, as the greenest energy is the energy we don’t use. But addressing this challenge requires much more than developing advanced technology. In fact, it is already possible for manufacturers to build large motor-driven systems that noticeably surpass any international standards. Given that the technology is already available, the next step must be to increase its uptake.
To address this, ABB has introduced its Top Industrial Efficiency (TIE) option that David Bjerhag will outline in his presentation. The TIE option is a commitment to offer an alternative for large motors and generators that provides the highest possible energy efficiency without compromising on reliability, complexity or specification compliance. It gives end users an easy and clear way to take a major step in reducing CO2 emissions while also significantly reducing total cost of ownership.
Ultimately, the target of the TIE option is not only to improve the energy efficiency of motors and generators alone but also to extend it to the entire motor-driven system (transformers, compressors, turbines, and pumps). The concept is free and open for all manufacturers and collaboration across the entire value chain is essential for making a positive impact to the environment.
