Session C3: Policy and Regulation for the Energy Transition

April 24, 2025 | 3:00 pm - 3:30 pm

Cross-Analysis of Automation and Regulation Practices: Unlocking Energy Efficiency in Europe's Existing Buildings

The energy transition requires buildings to be managed more intelligently through the automation and regulation of technical equipment, particularly in existing buildings, which currently offer the greatest potential for optimising energy management.

While the existing building stock is still relatively under-equipped, the current rate of deployment of BMS systems suggests that many commercial buildings will have to step up their efforts considerably to comply with the imminent regulatory requirements.

ARTELIA offers a cross-analysis of European practices through the prism of national regulations, such as the BACS decree in France, and their impact on the energy performance of buildings.

Thanks to an operational presence in several countries, ARTELIA will share concrete feedback from its local experts, illustrating the successes and technical challenges encountered when implementing automation solutions. We will highlight the best practices identified and the technical or regulatory obstacles.

Speaker Bio

Over the last 10 years, Fanny has worked on a number of projects aimed at improving the energy and environmental performance of buildings. She has developed her expertise from the earliest stages of operations (building energy audits, asset energy strategies), through to monitoring construction/renovation projects (commissioning, setting up energy performance contracts) and assessing performance in operation.

Her active involvement in a number of energy renovation projects has given her extensive experience of the techniques and work required to achieve significant energy savings. She puts this experience to good use in projects with high energy ambitions, such as energy performance contracts.

Certified CBCPI and CMVP since 2016, Fanny heads up a team of 12 people specialising in commissioning, BMS, operation and consultancy on the energy and environmental performance of existing buildings, within ARTELIA's Transition and Environmental Performance branch.
