Decarbonizing Industry on a Budget: The Hidden Power of Low-Cost Measures
In recent years, industries have been undergoing a significant transformation toward sustainability, driven by both regulatory pressures and the need for responsible business practices. The European Union, with initiatives such as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the revised Energy Efficiency Directive, is spearheading efforts to drive industrial sustainability, setting the stage for major changes in operational processes. A common misconception in the decarbonisation journey is that it requires substantial upfront investments; however, this presentation will demonstrate how industries can achieve meaningful carbon reductions through low-cost, energy-saving measures with quick returns on investment (ROI). Drawing on real Spanish case studies, the presentation will showcase how industrial operations can reduce carbon emissions and energy consumption by optimising steam generation and distribution, compressed air systems, implementing energy monitoring solutions, …
The examples will highlight the potential for industries to achieve immediate energy, economic, and CO2 savings through simple and cost-effective solutions. By embracing these measures, industries can pave the way for more comprehensive and sustainable decarbonisation strategies.
