Its implementation relies on structured energy management practices capable of continuously improving an organization\u2019s energy performance. ISO 50001 \u2013 Energy Management Systems \u2013 provides a robust framework to support this objective. Despite its proven effectiveness, the standard is still applied by a relatively limited number of organizations. However, this scenario is expected to evolve rapidly, as the Directive introduces mandatory requirements for companies with annual consumption exceeding 85 TJ and imposes ambitious reduction targets.\r\nWhile large organizations are generally equipped to adopt systematic approaches, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often face structural and resource-related barriers.
