Research on Machine Learning and AI for Prediction of Energy Consumption, Classification, and Analysis of Energy Conservation Potentials in Buildings

Research on ensemble Forecast modeling for energy consumption and dynamic benchmarking in different sectors of buildings. Through extensive data collection of over 100 buildings, literature review, statistical analyses, and collaboration with various stakeholders, a robust and accurate Forecasting Model was developed through this research. The resulting Forecasting model and benchmarking holds immense potential to drive positive change in the building sector, facilitating energy efficiency, sustainability, and energy conservation.
Benchmarking using machine learning techniques helps classifying the building as Excellent, Good, Average and Bad with respect to specific energy consumption and it is modeled with multiple dynamic factors. There has been numerous research on Benchmarking using regression models and machine learning. But most of the time it is noted that the same is limited to Energy consumption per square meter area. However, this research paper emphasizes a different approach considering numerous variables like Weather and Occupancy. Most of the time these variables are overlooked and for the purpose of ease only energy density is considered for benchmarking parameters like kWh/Sqm as industrial practices

Speaker Bio

As Managing Director of Hansa Energy Solutions i have been instrumental in driving innovation and excellence in energy efficiency and renewable technologies in Hansa Energy Solutions. My journey began with a deep-seated passion for addressing the pressing need for effective energy solutions, which led to establishment of Hansa Energy Solutions in the year 2014.

Being a PhD scholar with an engineering background, combined with an MBA, provided a strong foundation, while certifications in energy auditing like CEM,CEA,CMVP, renewable energy, and ESG reporting further sharpened my technical expertise. Co-founding Hansa Energy Solutions LLC in Dubai in 2014 and overseeing its growth since then marks my achievement in the sector. Starting my career as a consultant at 22, I embarked on a journey shaped by diverse experiences and a commitment to continuous learning. I sought out problems that could be addressed through innovative business models and identified a significant challenge: retrofitting thousands of facilities in the Middle East to enhance energy efficiency and integrate renewable energy. Recognizing the global shift towards sustainability, I saw this as an opportunity to create impactful solutions. I observed a notable gap in the market due to a shortage of skilled professionals for such projects.

My structured research on technology of AI/ML to make energy efficiency and sustainability accessible to all is making a good progress and the above paper will be a milestone for me. Previously, I had a privilege to collect " Regional Energy Project of the Year -2023 for Middle east" from AEE World, Orlando -USA
